To Be Continued...

Editor, Colourist

A poetic documentary following Shula, an Iranian artist who came to the UK as a refugee. During the 9 year wait for her refugee status to be approved, Shula was unable to work or study, so she turned to the only thing she knew - art.

Though this project I learned that documentary filmmaking can be a wonderful opportunity to learn. Shula's story is a rich, heart-warming one and listening to her tell it was a fantastic experience. To choose which parts of her story to tell was incredibly difficult, as so many of her experiences are uniquely beautiful. The accompanying footage of Shula painting with the coffee she used for so many years allowed me to play with visual storytelling in the edit, using the microcosm of the painting being completed to parallel Shula's long journey to her new life.
